Telehealth only through March 31

Our office will be offering TELEHEALTH ONLY through March 31 2020 and possibly longer.  This goes into effect immediately due to our commitment to Elevating Wellness and promoting public health and well being.

Elevating Wellness.  It’s one of our taglines, but what does it mean?  We’ve been struggling with this question over the past couple days as COVID 19 has been predominant in all our minds.  Our overall mission at Becoming Balanced is to provide evidence-based treatments to women in our community who have a variety of needs and struggles.  We want to approach care in a way that focuses on making women feel empowered as well as caring for their whole self.  Does keeping our office open and accessible during a pandemic move us in the direction we want to be going or does it move us away?  This question is actually tougher than it may seem on the surface.  Some women do not have confidence in their skills in managing technology to have an appointment.  Some people are concerned having a therapy session over video loses the personal touch.  Some people don’t have access to video technology.  At the same time, some women have likely been in contact with someone who has been exposed to COVID 19 and they aren’t aware of that contact when they come to the office.  Some women who come into the office have compromised immune systems and/or are at high risk for becoming seriously ill from COVID 19 and other illnesses.  What if they are exposed to the virus because someone who was in the office before them was unknowingly carrying the virus?  What about our personal health? What if we come into contact with the virus and get ill?  That means we won’t be able to see the people who are struggling with increased anxiety and stress right now and really need their appointments.  See how complicated this question gets!

There is not an easy answer to this question and we’re not sure if we will get it right, but we will not have any regrets if we stay true to ourselves and true to our vision of Becoming Balanced.  Elevating Wellness means putting our health and the health of the people we serve ahead of what is best for “business” and what is easiest.  The quote that has been up in Dr. Zielke’s office for the past 2 weeks is from Albus Dumbledore (of Harry Potter fame) which states “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy”.  This is not the easy choice, but we believe it is the right choice.  Therefore, we are suspending in-person office visits at this time through the end of March 2020 and possibly beyond.  We will move to telehealth appointments and will work with people one-on-one, if needed, to get them set up with the technology to have their appointment via telehealth.  Please feel free to call us at 551-1840 if you have questions or concerns.  The phones have been busy so please be patient with us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  Please continue to check our social media and website!  We will continue to be active and update everyone via these sites.  We greatly appreciate each and every one of you!  Take care of yourself and be well.
